Stainless Steel Trough Sink Bathroom
Trough sinks, also known as wash troughs or trough basins, are long, narrow communal hand wash sinks that are used in many schools, sixth form and college washroom facilities. Water is supplied at a premixed hand-washing temperature and the basin does not normally fill, which helps prevent flooding and keeps water usage and associated costs to a minimum.
Our stainless steel trough sinks are low-cost, hardwearing and easy to clean, which makes them suitable for any educational facility. They are also exceptionally resistant to vandalism. We can also supply stainless steel wash sinks in a range of colours.
When it comes to installation, you can choose from a wall-mounted trough sink, or an inset trough sink. Wall-mounted wash troughs can be fixed to a wall using integral wall-fixing brackets, and strengthened with optional front support legs. Inset wash troughs are designed to be mounted within a recess in a worktop or vanity unit, integrating seamlessly with your school washroom's existing units.
Our school hand wash troughs come in a wide variety of stock sizes, and can also be made to measure up to 3300mm. In addition, we can supply appropriate taps, waste traps, support legs and thermostatic water mixing valves, as well as soap dispensers and paper towel dispensers.

Guidance on Trough Sinks for Schools
Back in 2007, the Department for Education and Skills recommended wash troughs for schools in favour of individual basins because they are easier to clean and maintain, more aesthetically pleasing, and allow for greater ease of supervision by teaching staff.
The Toilets in Schools guidance, from the DFES, recommended communal hand-washing facilities that are separate from toilet cubicle areas and lead directly onto corridors. This allows for passive inspection by teachers and other school staff, which in turn helps to encourage good behaviour and keeps bullying and vandalism down to a minimum.
Trough basins for schools also require less space and pipework than individual hand-washing basins, as well as being simpler to install and cheaper to purchase. This makes them a cost-effective choice for all educational facilities.
